OMG. What would I do with 81 extra minutes a week? I would make a big fat chocolate cake then eat the whole thing myself while watching an episode of Lost.
I. LOVE. LOST. So unbelievably awesome.
With an extra 81 minutes a week, I could read a book or two extra a month. (~_~)
I DREAM about extra time….well, I would dream about it if I ever got any sleep. With a three-year-old and a one-year-old, I haven’t slept through a night in a very long time and so the obvious thing I would like to do with my spare 81 minutes is to sleep.
But I’m not going to do that.
Because there are so many other things to do. I could finish painting the mural I started on my boy’s wall, and decorate my daughter’s room. And scrape the moss off the roof, and sew some new curtains for our bedroom. I should probably post the Christmas present that I haven’t yet sent to our friends in LA (yes I know, its Feb!) and I should unpack the easel that my husband bought me for last year’s birthday and paint a picture. I could organize our wedding photos before our 10th wedding anniversary and I should go through the 6 shoe boxes of photos that I have and destroy the indecent ones before our kids are old enough to find them. For that matter, I should burn my diaries before the kids can read, and probably delete my facebook status history too. I might use my extra time to do some gardening, go to the gym, go for a bike ride, take a class, or finish the novel I’ve been writing. Maybe I should add them all up and visit my mum in England, or take my dad out for lunch or drop by my husband’s work as a surprise, a picnic in my bag. Or maybe I’d just hang out with the kids in their room and play with them for a little longer without thinking that I should be doing something else.
The question is not what I would do with my extra 81 minutes a week, it’s what I wouldn’t do.
Hey Eleanor! If you want to post a picture (like you mentioned on Twitter) you can do it by posting it anywhere online where you normally do (Flickr, Picasa, Facebook, Youtube, etc.) and just post the link to the photo/video here.
Cheers!
Thanks! Well I’ll link to a video of my son playing. If I had an extra 81 minutes, I might bounce on a bouncy deer with him for a while!
http://swingsandroundabouts-victoria.blogspot.com/2009/05/how-to-ride-bouncy-deer.html
Oooh…and extra 81 minutes…I could think of a lot of things to do!
However, I think I’d most likely spend it by reading for half of it, then spending more time with my 2 year old, 4 year old and hubby with the other half of it. I cherish all the extra moments I get with hubs since he’s been battling cancer for the last 3 years (one of the reasons we changed to spud)!
oops, forgot to add that I’m in Calgary, AB
With a two-year-old and a baby, there’s always lots of housework to do so some of it would go to that, and some would go to just enjoying my family. . .they are young for such a short time.
I’m in Calgary Alberta
As a busy mom I would love an extra 81 minutes a week I could give myself a little me time. Maybe get a massage or go for a walk.
Calgary Alberta
It’s sad but true, as the mum of young kids I’ll use every last of those 81 minutes up sleeping. Le sigh…
Being honest, it’s totally a tie between reading and sleeping.
I’m from beautiful and funky Olympia, Washington!
That would give me about an extra ten minutes per day to play with my cats.
Damn, am I the only guy here?

Well, normally I’d say that I would nap for an extra 81 minutes (count me in the list of parents of a young child.) But *currently* I’d spend the extra 81 minutes watching Team USA! Winter olympics are the best and I’m an armchair athlete!
Oh, and I’m in Los Angeles
The great thing about the 81 minutes saved is that it also cuts down on the fuel I would burn to get to the store! But, with 81 minutes extra per week I can reduce one meal eaten out – replaced with local produce from spudVancouver!
With the extra 81 minutes I save a week I will be dedicating it to making the most nutritious meals for my family. That is my priority. I waste a lot of time at the Pemberton market trying to find organic produce that is already at its end. Thanks to SPUDvancouver I have wonderful fresh produce to work with and it inspires me to make wonderful and creative whole meals.
With my extra 81 minutes a day I’ve started pilates, along with my organic only healthy eating this body will be banging inside and out!!
Los Angeles, CA
If I had an extra 81 minutes….? Maybe I could finish the pair of socks I’ve been knitting for 6 months…maybe I could detail the interior of my amazing Mini Cooper convertible named Elton…maybe I could go for a long walk and just enjoy all that this amazing place called PDX has to offer around my house…maybe I could fill up another cart on spud! with the freshest, bestest stuff ever!
With my extra 81 minutes a week… I’m cooking all sorts of more extravagant, and much healthier meals and snacks for my large family (of 7!).
Everything with fresh, local, organic veggies has been a big hit!
I spend my extra 81 minutes reading, playing and cuddling with my 11 week old son!
oops! I’m in Victoria, B.C.
What would I do with 81 extra minutes? Play the piano and guitar more every week waiting for my spud man to deliver a big box of yummy deliciousness!
whoops! I am from beautiful Calgary\
What do I do with those precious 81 minutes? With spud’s help, in my own small way (as trite as it sounds), I try to make the world a better place for us all:
http://lovinglifeandlaughing.blogspot.com/2010/02/how-spud-makes-world-better-place.html
I’ll use the 81 minutes that Spud so graciously saves me to plan my garden for this Spring…and many Springs to come. Thanks Spud!
PS- I’m writing from Calgary, Alberta
With my extra 81 mins I spend a little extra time on the treadmill and spin bike so during my 200km ride to conquer cancer this June I don’t fade out, we shall see. I also would try and sleep but with two kids that just is not going to happen, so maybe inventing some new kid approved recipes will have to do all organic of coarse.

Writting and training from Calgary, AB
So many choices of what to do!
But, there’s an easy first choice for me: work on my novel.
With a full-time job, 3 cats, and family, it’s tough to find a good chunk of spare time to write.
my initial response would be sleep, cause I have a hard time settling in at night, but on second thought, I’d rather spend my 81 minutes walking my kids and dog to the off leash dog park. Maybe more fresh air and exersize will result in a better nights sleep. Plus it’s exersize, family time, and fresh air and social time all rolled into one.
I’m in Surrey BC
With those 81 minutes I ride back and forth to work knowing I don’t have to shop as soon as I get home to start supper. I also get to spend time with my dog Shadow who has been home all alone all day while we are all at work.
Thanks Spud. I am enjoying my milk in those nice ice cold bottles
With 81 extra minutes? I’d find more ways to simplify life! I already use Spud! to help me on the grocery end of things, so that I can plan and prepare healthy meals. Perhaps with my 81 minutes, I could talk my significant other into an 81 minute massage.
Obviously I forgot to include my location! i’d enjoy my 81 minute massage in Los Angeles, after my lovely meal of fresh produce, healthy whole grains and organic lean meat!
With 81 extra minutes, I would partake of my favorite three R’s: Reading, Running, and Relaxing (while reading)
Jessica from Seattle
I would go outside and play with the dog even more. It’s good for the both of us.
I would spend more time touring/visiting small farms. My new project is visiting small farms all over to bring them to the forefront and educate people on why it’s so important to eat quality, not quantity.
I am located in San Francisco, CA (for now, but hope to be a gypsy on the road soon!).
I would spend more time with my strange leash-trained cat: taking her to the park when the sun shines.

Ohh sorry, we live in Coquitlam. Like to take our walks in Mundy Park when it’s warmer.
British Columbia
81 minutes. That sounds like family time to me. Or shoe shopping instead of grocery shopping. Either way – LOVE Spud.
Calgary, AB
An extra 81 minuntes? Definately fun time with my daughters. Swimming! Or the park? Reading quietly! Watching a movie WITH popcorn?? Endless possibilities. NO shopping! lol
I love Spud! It has changed my life! Now I have so much more time to walk my Beirut refugee Arnold! My husband and I lived in Beirut shortly after we were married and rescued a dog there, we named him Arnold and now he is a fat happy American doggy. He loves going for long walks and now we have more time to do that! Thank you Spud for being awesome!
I meant for it to post this link, but it didn’t woops!

With the time I save shopping with Spud I have an extra 81 minutes a week to cook from scratch rather than buying/ordering pre-made.
I’m looking forward to the day my little cutie is old enough to help me. Right now, I can’t get her to sit still long enough!

With my extra 81 minutes I spend more time teaching and showing Raine (my 6 month old) all the interesting things Vancouver has to offer.
Sorry I forgot to include my photo!!

I hate hate hate errands. I do as much as I can online and during my lunch break from work so that after work and on weekends I can play with my cats, watch movies, cook and even stare at the wall doing nothing. Those extra 81 minutes would probably be devoted to my quest to watching every single episode of The X-Files — I’m on season 5!
Oh, and I’m in Oakland. I love Spud for doing my grocery shopping for me.
I cook! I love cooking, and the extra 81 minutes a week gives me more time to prepare my delicious groceries from SPUD!
I’d finally take the time to meditate! And with fresh food from SPUD, I’d be able to clear out my body of gross chemicals while I unclutter my mind.
Oh! I almost forgot my photo. This is the one thing that might keep me from meditating:
“Whatcha doin, Mom?”
Oops, link must not have worked.

(He definitely gets in the way of silent contemplation. Elephant in the room? Almost.)
Lastly, I’m in Seattle, WA!
With an extra 81 minutes a week I would plan more healthy meals for the week, possibly cook said meals in advance so that I have no excuses not to make dinner! And of course spend more time with my husband and furry kids!
Forgot to mention my location as Seattle, WA
With my extra 81 minutes, I spend time building and promoting the site/recruiting members/raising funds for my almost national Walk MS Team “Moms With MS”!!!
81 Extra Minutes a week would give me over an hour more time to:
write love letters to my fiance
practice ballet
make cookies
play with my cats
read a book
and have the time to TAKE time to just relax a little
My extra 81 minutes a week are spent talking about SpudMan with my 7 and 3 year old! Mama can I put the bin out? No, not today. When? Tomorrow. It’s tomorrow Mama can I put the bin out? Yes. Will Spudman bring pears? I think so. Will he bring gummies Mama gummies? Yes. Will he bring a funny pumpkin? Maybe. Will he bring some carrots with the trees on them? Probably. Yay! Is he here yet Mama? No not yet. Is the dog barking at Spudman? No. Will he bring some disappearing icebergs? (dry ice bags) Not this week. DINGDONG Mama it’s Spudman can I open the door? Yes. Oh, look it’s the new bin. THANK YOU SPUDMAN!!
hahahahaha! It’s an exhausting but very entertaining conversation every week! Thanks Spud!
hmmmh…..with an extra 81 minutes a day I could get started on my goal of achieving world peace. I figure I can get that achieved by the end of the year. Then I might focus in on climate change and get that whole mess sorted out. I mean how hard ca that be. From there I plan on losing the 15 pounds I have accumulated and then train for and win the Boston Marathon….should be a snap. I might be a little tired then so I would slow it down a tad and focus on ridding my city of homelessness, graffiti and crime. Gosh….I am amazing already!
Leaving my fantasy world behind if I had an additional 81 minutes a week I would likely just fritter the time away on face book or hanging with my honey bunny.
b.t.w. I live in Vancouver
Oh boy, 81 minutes could go a long way! I am the treasurer for my son’s elementary school and I have a 3 year old at home all day. An extra 81 minutes would certainly get many checks written and processed. I’d love to say I’d eat a few bonbons or go excercise, or go have coffee with a friend, but the reality is right now time is extremely precious. I would either use it for the treasurer duties or go volunteer extra time in my sons class, I love to participate with him & his classmates.
I am in Bellevue WA.
I would walk my dog in the park.
That is almost an hour and 1/2 extra play time with my 2 girls
I spend more quality time with my boyfriend, and spend more time cooking (which I love doing but used to have a hard time fitting in). The bonus is that I buy all sorts of new and interesting things I’ve never tried too!
oh forgot to say I am from Vancouver.
